When founder Ted Nelson was asked to add PR as a practice for GUMBO clients, he did so on two conditions: that he hire someone who was very senior, outside the Food PR world… someone with a more outcome-oriented mindset. When Ted and Roland met, it was a meeting of like minds; the PR efforts must always be guided by a tight strategy for the brand with an achievable and measurable goal.

Since joining GUMBO over two years ago, Roland has advised respected chefs and authors such as Deborah VanTrece (VanTrece Hospitality), Duane Nutter (Southern National), Todd Richards (Soul Food & Culture), Nick Leahy (Nick's Westside), Bruce Moffett (The Moffett restaurant Group) and others.
